Natsume's Book of Friends

Natsume Yuujinchou is an anime series centered around Natsume Takashi, a teenager with the ability to see yokai (supernatural beings). He inherits a book from his grandmother, Reiko, which contains the names of numerous yokai bound to her through contracts. Instead of exploiting them as his grandmother did, Natsume aims to free these yokai, returning their names to them and helping them resolve their unfinished business. Along the way, he forms close relationships with a variety of yokai and humans, including Madara, a powerful yokai who initially wants the book for himself but becomes Natsume's protector.
