Synopsis

Kouzuki Oden, eager to join Edward Newgate's (Whitebeard) crew, initially clashes with Whitebeard. His loyalty is questioned, leading to a grueling test: holding onto a chain dragged by the ship for three days. Oden nearly succeeds but abandons the challenge when he hears a woman, Toki, in distress. Impressed by his selflessness, Whitebeard accepts Oden into his crew. Toki, Izou, Inuarashi, and Nekomamushi also join. Oden's time with Whitebeard's crew involves many adventures and travels, faithfully documented in his journal. During his time with the crew, he develops a close relationship with Toki and they have a son, Momonosuke. Oden eventually becomes the commander of Whitebeard's second division. Back in Wano Country, the ailing shogun Sukiyaki appoints Kurozumi Orochi as his proxy due to Oden's absence. While sailing with Whitebeard, the crew encounters Teach, a child orphan, and Whitebeard takes him aboard due to his compassion. News of Oden's samurai skills reaches the Roger Pirates, prompting Gol D. Roger to seek a meeting with the renowned samurai.
