Synopsis

Miyo Saimori spent her childhood treated like a servant in her own family, stripped of any sense of self-worth. Season one was about her slowly learning she deserved to be loved. Season two picks up after she's awakened a rare supernatural ability called Dream-Sight, and now the stakes are bigger than just her personal healing. Her fiancé, Kiyoka Kudou — a stoic military captain who protects the country from people abusing gifted powers — gets sent on a mission by a prince vying for the imperial throne. The catch: it takes them both to Kiyoka's family estate, where Miyo has to face his cold, disapproving mother while Kiyoka investigates reports of demons in the area. So you've got this quiet, emotionally fragile woman navigating family politics and supernatural threats at the same time, and it hits harder than you'd expect. The historical fantasy setting feels lived-in, with Kinema Citrus delivering gorgeous animation across all 13 episodes. If you liked the emotional slow burn of Fruits Basket or the gentle resilience of Snow White with the Red Hair, this is very much in that lane — romance where the characters actually grow and earn their happiness. There are also shades of Violet Evergarden in how it handles trauma and tenderness without rushing either. It's a romantic drama that doesn't shy away from tension, both political and personal, and the balance between the two keeps it from ever feeling one-note.

The episode was kind of refreshing to see in a different setting and mood. The couple's Hatsumode was heartwarming and interesting to watch. The visuals were vibrant and the animation was also lively. The plot's thickening as the unsettling vibes were also present. The cliffhanger was definitely brewing something.

This was a mind-boggling episode. The action was intense, mentally, emotionally, and physically. The episode's tone went darker and deeper with the unwelcomed appearance of one formidable foe. However, the pacing was fast for this season, even the new characters were not yet sinking in.

It is an emotional and thrilling episode. And that plot twist was unexpected. That ending visuals and aura were dark and intense, reminded me of Naruto's genjutsu, though. A bit of an emotional touch with Kaoruko and Miyo solidifying their friendship.
