Fierce Sabre in the Snow
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Known far and wide as the biggest wastrel in the realm, Xu Fengnian has earned himself quite the reputation — eldest son of Northern Liang's ruler, who spent years being known for nothing but drinking and causing trouble. Then he disappears on a three-year journey spanning six thousand miles, and the guy who comes back is not the same person. The thing is, nobody knows that yet. His father, Xu Xiao, still sees the reckless kid. The imperial court still sees a weak link they can exploit. And the martial arts world doesn't see him at all. That's about to change when his loyal servant Old Huang stakes his own life to formally invite Fengnian into the jianghu, and Fengnian stops pretending he can't fight. Now he's caught between court politics trying to dismantle his family's power and martial artists who'd love to make a name by taking his head. This ONA from BUILD DREAM, adapted from a popular web novel, leans hard into the slow-burn transformation of a hidden prodigy finally stepping up to lead. The historical setting feels grounded but the martial arts choreography keeps things sharp. If you liked the political layering in Mo Dao Zu Shi or the protagonist evolution in Douluo Continent, this hits a similar nerve. There's also a Thunderbolt Fantasy energy to the way it treats its swordplay as spectacle. It's action-packed but patient about earning its biggest moments — the kind of show where what characters don't say matters as much as the fights.
